Film Review | Class of Nuke ‘Em High

Class of Nuke ‘Em High is a zany Eighties gross-out comedy-horror about a high school that gets polluted with toxic waste from the neighbouring nuclear facility. In other words, it’s something that came straight off Troma Entertainment’s production line.

And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If you happen to be in the mood for mutant gangs peddling toxic weed, coming-of-age romance, and gore, you’re in the right place. The practical effects are, well, practical, but they’re charming. The characters are caricatures and in essence parodies of the Fifties US high school movie. This is a film that serves up entertainment of a fast, non-academic nature. It serves a purpose, although the value of that purpose is in the eye of the beholder.

1986, Lloyd Kaufman + Richard W. Haines
